Two Dorks in Belgium

Hello there!😊 How's it all going?  Time to share our Belgium trip (4 to 6 May 2024) with you all!😁 Saturday: We took the Eurostar to Brussels at 10:01 (please arrive at least 1 - 1.5hrs before). Besides the stopover at Lille, the trip was comfortable and uneventful. K slept most of the way while I worked on the last post because I can't ever fall asleep on a train or plane. 😬 We arrived at Brussels around lunch time - my favourite time of the day - and took the metro to the city centre. We observed two things: 1. The tube is reminiscent of the Paris metro. It is cleaner than the Paris one, but not by much. πŸ™„ 2. It is legal for humans to walk on the tracks ... 😲 Yes! They literally walked from one platform to another by crossing the tracks. Now, having live in London, we are all too familiar with the amount of times the tube stalled in the tunnels or got delayed because "someone fell on the tracks". Hence, this was mind-blowing to us! As we were early, we decide...

Two Dorks in Bath

Hello there!😊 Just stopping by to tell you all about our weekend in Bath!  A trip much different than we had initially planned (for reasons we will get into in another post). Sharing our lovely experience in this picturesque city. Pictures do not do it justice. Friday, 15:00 onwards: We took the train from London Paddington station to Bath SpA station. It was a comfortable 1 hr 18 mins trip all aboard the First Class cabin because my ADHD brain struggles with loud spaces and anyone who has ever been on a UK train knows just how merry people get! This was a fantastic decision, except that we missed the fine print where a variety of snacks and drinks are offered complimentary. It wasn't until the nice train attendant prompted us multiple times that we shyly took two bottles of water and crisps. I even managed to focus enough to get our first blog post out. 😝 First impressions arriving at Bath - lovely town, bright, open and a complete 180 °  from London! Very few cars or peopl...

Two Dorks introduction

Hello there! πŸ‘‹ If you're reading this you have stumbled onto the blog of two immigrants living in London, navigating their way through adulthood (which in itself is already quite challenging) and all the additional bumps that come from living in His Majesty's beloved capital - London! Before we get too far into all that though, here's a little bit about us: I am B and I'm originally from sunny Portugal. I moved to London in 2016 and boy was I in for a wild ride! My true calling is napping, assembling things (furniture, Lego, puzzles / jigsaws, pretty much anything that needs assembly) and spending time with my partner and dogs (not just one dog - dogs)! - unfortunately, none of these things generate a salary, so to compensate that, I work as an Architect. My partner is K. She's a fun-sized firecracker from the tiny red dot - Singapore! She moved to London in 2022 to slave in Compliance. Never did she imagine the hoops and hurdles she would face when she made that d...
